Race 1: Gimcrack Stakes 1000m
CATCH ME (4) Tough assignment to start the day with a field of first starters. This well bred filly looked good in a recent trial sitting forward and looked to be cruising on the line. Drawn to roll forward again and from a strong yard. Im sure she will be in the finish.
Dangers:
BRIGHT RUBICK (1) Her trial was also very good, she was able to get back and ran on strongly late. Might find this a shade to short however expect her to be working home well late MAYAASEH (9) Looked good her in trial being able to find the front and kick clear to win. Will have a bit of pace drawn outside of her is my only query. From good yard and expecting forward showing.
Race 2: Breeders Plate 1000m
EXCEED THE STARS (6) Doesn’t get much easier here unfortunately with another field of first starters. This guy is bred to be a real speedster the dam side has speed to burn and the sire a champion sprinter. Winner of two trials and T Berry has been engaged. Expecting he will give them something to catch today.
Dangers:
FIERY RED (7) Ran second to Exceed The Stars in his trial when asked to go with the leader and eventual winner of the trial. Stable has a proving record with 2yos and expecting him to show up. Watch betting markets. AUTOCRATIC (10) Very well bred youngster from the Snowden camp. Sat forward in the trial running third. Can position just behind the speed from the draw and be in the finish. Don’t want to go to wide betting in these early races with the unknown form.
Race 3: Dulcify Quality 1600m
GEM SONG (1) Two runs this preparation have both been good. Last start looked to be in a spot of bother however sprinted well once clear to score. The step up in trip looks ideal and is building an impressive overall record already. Looks hard to beat
Dangers:
MICKEY BLUE EYES (8) Nice first up win at Bendigo breaking maiden status. Fitter for that effort and form last preparation behind Graff and The Autumn Sun reads well for this. Looks at nice price at the $9 each way. MADAM ROUGE (4) Nice winner first up at Canterbury then excuses last start pulling up lame after being well in the betting. Previous form was good and happy to give another chance today.
Race 4: Hill Stakes 2000m
EGG TART (10) Unlucky first up in the Tramway running on well then last start was good behind the champion WInx in good time. The step up in trip looks to suit as she ran well last preparation in this distance range at group level. Looks the one to beat.
Dangers:
IT’S SOMEWHAT (6)Fitter for two runs back which both have been sound efforts. Gets up to a distance range where he always runs well at. Should get a soft run from the draw and be hitting the line hard. ACE HIGH (9) Fitter for three runs back and not gets to his right distance range. Best career efforts have been in the 2000m+ range. Go on the effort two starts back running on well at G2 level. Short enough in the betting however looks like he will be in the finish. I can’t see any further runners making an impact in this event so stick with the top 3 here.
Race 5: Premiere Stakes 1200m
REDZEL (1) Was an easing favourite first up here however that caused no problem from this star gelding proving to strong after taking up a forward position in the run. Should only be improved from that run and has an excellent record at this track and distance. Engaged against some quality animals here today, however the one to beat.
Dangers:
TRAPEZE ARTIST (7) Solid performance first up running on soundly. Was easy in betting suggesting not being fully wound up for that event. Did beat Redzel here over this track and distance last preparation. Clear danger. IN HER TIME (5) First up and fitter for a recent trial win. A G1 winner last preparation and winner over this track and trip in very slick time. Can make presence felt in this.
Race 6: Flight Stakes 1600m
MISS FABULASS (1) Impressive victory last start in the Tea Rose sitting midfield in the run and proving too strong for her rivals. Step up in trip only looks to suit and this field looks no harder than last start. Clearly the one to beat.
Dangers:
PRETTY IN PINK (4) Fitter for two runs back this preparation and both have been good running on into the placings. Step up in trip looks to suit and did start favourite against Miss Fabulass last start. Looks a touch over the odds at the $7 range. FIESTA (3) Good winner first up in the Silver Shadow then last two starts very good running into the placings. For lines up with the favourite and can be in the finish.
Race 7: Epsom Handicap 1600m
UNFORGOTTEN (7) First up run was very sound against the champion Winx then looked like a real good horse winning last start over this track and trip in good time. Classy mare who last preparation proved high class running well over 2000m which is always a good sign over the tough Randwick Mile. She looks a solid bet at her current price.
Dangers:
SHILLELAGH (4) Happy to forgive the first up run on a unsuitable heavy track. She is a mare that can produce a big finish on her day. Looks a good each way bet at the $21. ARBEITSAM (9) Will roll forward from an outside draw. Rolled along if front last weekend and was only run down late in a good time event. Did run 3rd in the Doncaster last preparation. D’ARGENTO (3)Fitter for two runs back from a spell which have both been good. A winner at G1 level at 2000m says he will be strong late. Just a query on barrier 1. If the breaks go his way can win the race.
Race 8: Metropolitan 2400m
MISS ADMIRATION (9) A good winner last weekend sitting off the speed and letting down with a sharp sprint to win well. She is proven at this distance and gets a nice weight drop from last start and is fit and inform. The current price of $8.5 looks good each way value for mine in what is an open event
Dangers:
BRIMHAM ROCKS (10) All three runs have been good this preparation without winning. Has bumped into the very smart Avilius a couple of times. Peaking in fitness and a winner at 2800m. Looks to be right in the finish. AUVRAY (1) Nothing wrong with his two starts this preparation. Last start ran on well to narrowly go down in the Newcastle Cup. Distance or class is no worry for win. Looks a nice price at $21. OPPOSITION (19) Building nicely this preparation with three good runs. Out to his ideal distance where all his 3 career wins have come from. Expecting peak performance. Currently $46.
Race 9: Snitzel Handicap 1200m
CORSUCATE (10) Hope we are in front before the last because it’s a wide open event this one. Going well this preparation with two strong victories in lower grade. Last start at Canterbury got back and finished off well to score. Drops 4kg from that win and JMac stays on. Tricky barrier is the query however going well enough to overcome it.
Dangers:
PROBLEM SOLVER (15)First up and winner of a recent trial. Winner when last first up in quick time and also ran second at G2 level behind the smart Houzten. Watch betting. Expecting bold showing. MISS QUE (14) Flew home first up then the next two have been sound efforts. Peaks in fitness today for mine and her best form is more than capable of taking this out. SIR PLUSH (1) Looks well suited back in grade today after being just over 3 lengths away at G3 level last start. Start prior also good at BM94 level. PERIZADA (3) Happy to forgive first up run at G2 level on the heavy track. Second up record is very good and has ran well in higher grade races than is meeting today.
