Gold Coast Racing Tips

Track: Good 4. Rail: Out 1.5m 1000m-400m. True the remainder.

Best Bet: Race 1 – TERMINOLOGY

=====

Race 1: MM Maiden Plate 1200m

TERMINOLOGY (11) is from the strong Waterhouse/Bott yard, she wasn’t beaten far at Gosford behind a smart one in the Gosford Guineas at Listed level, prior to that chased hard in a good form race down south. Hard to beat back in this grade.

Dangers:

DUNBRODY POWER (12) is only lightly raced lining up for career start number three, she got well back on both occasions and ran on hard, a little worrying as that pattern has not been ideal at this meeting in past years. THERE YOU ARE (6) was ok on debut up the straight in a harder race than this, he didn’t have a lot of room late and went to the line basically untested. BRILLIANT MIND (3) has been gelded since we last saw him, he was racing the best juveniles in the land at prep one and has trialed well. Watch the money for him.

Race 2: MM Country Cup Quality Handicap 1200m

ALL IMPORTANT (15) has been very consistent this time in, he will go forward early and try and lead all the way. He appeared to have his chance at Warwick last start, you know what you will get with him and in the big field, he will be making his own luck.

Dangers:

MISS TOORAK FLYER (11) looks to have the class edge, she is resuming here off a brief month away but has trialed well. She will be giving them a start, just a matter of how big a start from the horrible draw. Had it not been for that barrier she would have been the clear top pick. SO INVINCIBLE (8) draws the other side of the track, drawn to get a soft run in behind the leaders she will only need an ounce of luck when the runs come to feature. STANLEY PARK (3) is a last start winner, off the good draw he will also be on the bunny, if he gets to the rails first then backing him in play may be the go.

Race 3: $1M MM QTIS OPEN Quality Handicap 1300m

SKATE TO PARIS (12) looks to have come back well from the paddock, she ran on hard resuming in a race that didn’t have the tempo to suit then exploded late to score at the here at the track a week ago. She was a bit of a non-winner last prep but looks to have found the will to win now.

Dangers:

CHAPTER AND VERSE (10) has only missed a place at one of his 11 career starts, he is likely to be giving them a start but with the big field the pace should be on throughout. MISHANI BULLET (4) comes through the same form race as a lot of these, he had no luck that day resuming at a vital stage and wasn’t tested late. OURS TO KEEP (5) is a last start winner but is drawn horribly out wide, he has good tactical speed and will need to lead or get the spot outside the leader without spending too much early.

Race 4: $1M MM Trophy Quality Handicap 2200m

TALLY (1) showed a stack more speed last time to lead all the way at Doomben late last year, if he is ridden that way again here today, they won’t be able to run him down, even with the big weight.

Dangers:

TUMULTOUS (4) was runner-up behind him last time, although a couple of things went against him, he did seem to have his chance to run him down. GOODFELLA (5) has been up for a while but will find this easier than races he has been contesting in Sydney of late. He will be up on the speed for a long way. MAGNUFIGHTER (7) comes through the same race as the top two fancies, he was on the speed and had every chance but was well backed that day. He will need to get cover on the speed to be a chance.

Race 5: $1M MM Sprint 1200m

HOUTZEN (3) is a superstar, she brained them when resuming off a seven-week break at Doomben a month ago when simply way too fast for his opposition, in track record time no less. She will fire across early again and even if she has to sit parked, she will be able to control the speed and looks the best of good things.

Dangers:

DOTHRAKI (1) is a veteran that has been racing the best for a long time, he draws to get a soft run here and should be able to close late if the breaks go his way and the speedy mare doesn’t get away in front. INVINCIBLE STAR (5) is better than what she showed when beaten as a long-odds on pop at Wyong, she was found to be lame and she has so much pace that she may be able to pinch it. USAIN BOWLER (13) has the gun draw, although he isn’t as experienced as some of the others in the field, he has the potential. His last start win up the straight at Flemington was most impressive.

Race 6: $1M MM Fillies and Mares Set Weights and Penalties 1300m

INVINCIBELLA (1) had been racing well in Vic prior to going to the paddock, she ran on well resuming at Doomben a fortnight ago in a race where the tempo was against her. She draws well here and is very consistent when second-up, look for her late.

Dangers:

MANICURE (5) won that race that the top selection ran on well in, she was up on the speed and dominant late, but the race was run to suit and she was double figure odds. She looks a great lay if she starts near the top of the betting. IRITHEA (6) has a stack of speed and will go forward, she was narrowly beaten in the Belle Of The Turf at Gosford last time after hitting the front too early. PROBLEM SOLVER (7) was a winner in the MM sales restricted race at Wyong two starts back, she seemed a little flat last time when appearing to have every chance at Listed level. She needs to improve slightly but is a realistic place chance.

Race 7: $2M MM 3YO Guineas 1400m

OUTBACK BARBIE (8) was super through her first two runs this campaign, she then went to Doomben last time, got well back, checked on a couple of occasions and was held-up late, before hitting the line hard in a complete forget run. She was heavily backed that day and expect her to make amends here.

Dangers:

THE FIRE TRAP (4) was galloped on in that race and never really came on, we can forgive her that run. If she gets back to the winning form of last prep she is a place chance. BOOMSARA (1) was the winner of that race, The Vo Rogue, he was simply too quick for them but from the extreme draw, he may have to work too hard early. He bolted in though last time against many of these, if he does cross, hit that back button in-play. LIGHT UP THE ROOM (13) next best, she came through that same race but did have every chance.

Race 8: $2M MM 2YO Classic 1200m

The feature of the day and it looks the toughest betting proposition of them all. All the fancied runners have drawn horribly so it is going to come down to either a brilliant ride (or a howler to get beat) or something drawn well improving a stack. BETTER REFLECTION (11) has won convincingly both times she has been to the races. There will be plenty of speed on, she will go forward and hopefully get early cover up on the pace. EXHILIRATES (8) won here a week ago for her maiden victory, she may have been favoured the way the race was run up close to the speed but now knows how to win. CZARSON (7) is undefeated, he has shown good tactical speed at both starts as you would expect from the Waterhouse/Bott yard, jus the barrier that is a concern. YES YES YES (3) will have admirers and gets the blinkers on, he has shown toughness at his last two Victorian wins. a little concerning that this is his first go in the clockwise direction though.

Race 9: $1M MM Cup Quality Handicap 1400m

ARBEITSAM (2) could cap off a big day for the Waterhouse/Bott team, he is a speedy type that will try to lead all the way. Two starts back he led the Epsom field into the straight and stuck on well to be beaten less than two lengths off a strong tempo, he will give a sight.

Dangers:

SAMBRO (5) had a soft run in the Villiers a month ago and stuck on ok, this looks no harder and usually gets better the further into a prep he goes. CADOGAN (11) is locally trained and has versatility, he will find it harder than what he has been racing but he is a winner. BEL SONIC (13) will be giving them a start, ridden quietly and for luck off the inside gate he should be hitting the line hard.
