Race 1: Kirkham Plate 1000m

EVENING SLIPPERS (8) Very well bred filly who was able to lead and win a recent trial at Warwick Farm in good fashion. Should be further improved from that effort and related to a couple of good 2yo. Stable needs no introduction to high class 2yos. Expecting to go close

Dangers:

SEDONA (5) Colt from the Snowden yard who looked good in recent trial being able to take up a forward position and running second. Stable flying and can take up a forward position and be in the finish. TIME TO REIGN (6) First starter who is a half to Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign. Won a recent trial in good fashion and if he is half as good as her he will be in the finish. Watch betting.

Race 2: Daily Press 1600m

ULUSABA (5) Stepped up in trip second up at Wyong and bolted in by over three lengths. He should only be better for those two efforts and on the quick back up today which will suit. If he is able to lead and control the speed today he will be hard to beat again today.

Dangers:

CALIFORNIA CONCORD (2) Winner of the past two starts at Newcastle sitting just off the pace and finishing to well. This is a step up in grade today. However drawn to get a soft run behind the speed and stable is flying. Expecting another forward showing today. ORCEIN (3)Sound effort first up then last start won well breaking maiden status. From strong yard and seemed to handle only start on a rain affected track

Race 3: TAB Highway 1100m

BURNING CROWN (7) Looked the part in two starts winning very well in both of them. Last start Sat back in the field at Scone and let down very well to win as a red hot favourite and in good time. The debut win was over 6 lengths! Looks to well above average and hard to beat again in this event.

Dangers:

HANDLE THE TRUTH (15) Very good winner first up by over three lengths as a veryshort priced favourite, then came to town last start and again won well on a heavy track. Fit, racing well and handles the conditions looks the main danger to the top pick. DOCTOR ON ICE (14) First up today and looked good running second in a recent Gold Coast trial. Won very well when last fresh and stable has a brilliant record in these races. Will be looking to drive up from the inside gate and hold a forward position. Can feature in the finish.

Race 4: Tattersalls Club Cup 2400m

HIGH BRIDGE (4) Has been excellent since arriving from the UK. Last start in the G1 got a long back and ran on well to finish just out of the placings. The two starts prior produced two very good victories with big weights. Has an excellent record on rain affected tracks with six wins on a soft surface. Looks the one to beat.

Dangers:

BIG BLUE (2) A shock winner last start leading from barrier to box last weekend after previously racing in a Casterton hurdle race. On the quick back, very fit and will roll forward on pace. Can be in the finish again today. INVICTUS PRINCE (3) Not to bad two starts back in the G1 Epsom then last start worked to the line soundly. On the quick back up today and drops 3 kg from that run. Hasn’t won at this trip but has run well over it in the past. A big run would not surprise.

Race 5: Kogaroo Handicap 1600m

LIVE AND FREE (6) Well backed first up with a big weight and didn’t offer a lot. Fitter for that run and won very well when last second up. He gets up to a distance where he has won before and drops a massive 6kg from first up effort. Last preparation looked to above average ability winning consecutive races in town very stylishly. Expecting to bounce back today.

Dangers:

MEROVEE (10)Worked to line soundly first up then showed sharp improved second up running on very well to score at Rosehill. Fitter now for two runs back from a spell and has won on a soft track. He will appreciate the weight drop of 5kg for the last start victory. He can win this. SMART AS YOU THINK (9) She is only a winner of 1 from 29 however has run some very good races in good quality races. Last start was met with support in the Bairnsdale Cup and hit the line well to run third. Only career win came on a soft track and respect the stable when they travel. She can run into the placings.

Race 6: Brian Crowley 1200m

ROOSEVELT (7) Not to bad first up behind Written By who has since won well again. Second up made sharp improvement winning at Warwick Farm by over 5 lengths in impressive fashion. On a quick back up and has shown a liking for heavy tracks and with the improved fitness looks very hard to beat in this.

Dangers:

DIPLOMATICO (9) Debut was good at Rosehill working to the line well to run second when well in the market. He was then sent straight to paddock and returned with an impressive first up victory winning by over 4 lengths. Has ability and sure to be better for that effort. Looks the clear threat. JONKER (2) 4 lengths behind Graff first up which reads well for this then the following two efforts have been sound without winning. Peaks in fitness today and a heavy track shouldn’t pose any concerns. Can be in the finish.

Race 7: Nivison Handicap 1200m

PECANS (2) First up and fitter for a recent trial where she looked good running third. Excellent fresh record with two wins and three seconds from the six attempts and handles a heavy track. Expecting she will be able to drive up from an inside gate and enjoy a nice run just behind the speed. Has been met with good support in early markets.

Dangers:

EPIDEMIC (5) Did do a lot first up and was later found to be lame. Has won two from two when second up and is two from two on a soft track. Won three in a row last preparation and looked above average. She will get back from the wide draw and expect to be hitting the line well late and looks a clear threat to the top pick. ECKSTEIN (3)Nice effort two starts back at Rosehill working to the line well then last start won very well at Flemington in good time. Peaks in fitness today and the wet track is only a plus in my eyes. Expect to see her working to the line well late. RESIN (9) Nice first up effort at Rosehill working to the line well at big odds then a very good win second up. Racing well this preparation and goes well on a wet track. Can feature.

Race 8: ClubsNSW Handicap 1200m

MAXIMUS (6) Good effort first start this preparation on a heavy track getting back and working to the line well then last start was a good winner in very good time at this track. Fitter for two runs back from a spell and can obtain a nice run just behind the speed. Expecting him to be in the finish again. Hard to beat.

Dangers:

NOBLE JOEY (10) The last three efforts have been sound without winning. Last start was ridden a bit upside down finishing just three lengths from the winner. Drawn to be able take up a forward position and goes very well on a heavy and has a fitness edge on his rivals I can see him being in the finish. Looks a good each way bet at $17 NEW UNIVERSE (5) Has been struggling a touch to win of late however is fresh today and 4 of his 5 career wins have come first or second up. Goes well on a rain affected track and was given a quiet trial in a tune up for this. Expect to see him hitting the line very well late in this.

Race 9: Jem Computer Systems 1400m

MAHALANGUR (15) Sent out as favourite first up at Warwick Farm and won very easily and in good time. Sure to have benefitted from that effort and may of just came back a lot better horse this preparation. Looks the one to beat in what is an open race.

Dangers:

DON’T GIVE A DAMN (4) Very well backed last weekend and loomed up in the straight like he was going to be in the finish. He peaks in fitness today and a pleasing record at this track and distance. I am expecting big run on a quick back up today. RIGHT OR WRONG (5) A nice second two starts back behind Trekking who has since run well then last start rattled home from a long way back behind Maximus in a very quick time event. He was very good record at this distance and a very good record on rain affected tracks. The stable going well in recent weeks. He can be in the finish. KARAVALI (2) First up and she has had two recent trials in the lead up to today’s event. Looking for a bit longer in trip however goes very well in rain affected conditions and is good enough to take out a race of this class.
