Race 1: TAB HIghway Handicap 1000m
SEI STELLA (4) Lightly raced and was a good winner first up by over three lengths in similar grading leading from barrier to box in a strong performance as favourite. Drawn well to take up a forward position again from the draw and has more upside than a few of these. Sure to be in the finish again today.
Dangers:
MICK THE HAT (9) Strong winner at Scone last start jumping to the front and given nothing else a look in as a short priced favourite. This is harder however gets in very well after the claim. LIFESAVER (3) A regular recently in these grade races where he has acquitted himself well this preparation. From a stable that knocks up winning these events. Can be in the finish. RISK AND REWARD (6) Freshened up after a solid effort on pace last start over a longer trip than is meeting today. Drawn wide however can sit forward in this and be in the finish with the right run.
Race 2: BM 76 Handicap 1100m
MILITARY ZONE (13) Talented gelding who looked good in a recent trial before today’s first up assignment. Form last preparation was good winning 2 of three starts and was well in the betting at G3 level before spelling. He is drawn wide however expecting to take up a forward position and McEvoy gets the ride. Go well.
Dangers:
MISTER SONGMAN (3) Very good first up run for the Waterhouse yard after two good trials. Should be fitter for that effort and this doesn’t look any harder. Previous form in TAS is good. Expecting another forward showing. DEPRIVE (6) Got back and worked to the line in solid fashion as a odds on favourite first up. Two starts back was close up behind Nature Strip which reads well for this. Bowman stays on and only other second up attempt was very good. I am expecting a bounce back to form. CONNEMARA (9) Fitter for first up effort working to the line in solid fashion when well in the betting. Form last preparation was very good winning two from two. Has ability and can show up today.
Race 3: BM 88 Handicap 1200m
SEASONS (4) Lightly raced and talented mare who was a winner first up making in now three in a row winning last start as an odds on favourite. Was able to just sit behind the speed in quicken well in the straight to score with authority. Unbeaten second up and a recent trial was good. Drawn wide however expecting can roll forward and prove very hard to beat today. She has very good ability.
Dangers:
SWEET SCANDAL (6) First up run was sound holding her ground to the line as a well supported favourite. Fitter for that effort and is 1 from 1 second up. Should be camped right behind the leaders from the draw and be right in the finish. ALASSIO (13) Talented galloper who is first up today and won 3 from 4 in her first preparation. Recent trial was very good. Has ability however faces toughest task today. Watch betting. SEAGLASS (14) Lightly raced Snowden mare who is first up today. Form is sound in weaker races. Respecting the stable and not keen to leave her out of calculations at big odds today. Keep safe.
Race 4: Christmas Cup 2400m
OUR CENTURY (2) Good winner first up over 1900m then second up last start battled on strongly to the line when well supported. Fitter now for two runs back and the step up to 2400m looks to suit. Will obtain a soft run just behind the speed and looks the safest play in this event. Good stayer
Dangers:
EXOTERIC (3) Nice winner last start beating Our Century when solid in the betting. He meets Our Century worse at the weights today however fit and very consistent this preparation. He can win. WALL OF FIRE (4) I am happy to forgive the last start effort at Geelong in the Geelong Cup. Previous runs were sound at group level. He was well in the betting in a Melbourne Cup just over 12 months ago. He can feature in this if ready to go. Watch betting.
Race 5: 2yo Inglis Nursery Handicap 1000m
BLAZING MISS (7) Very good in two career runs. On debut narrowly went down when sitting just off the pace and working to the line well at Newcastle then last start was again a narrow second. Should obtain a nice run just behind the leaders in this and with even luck will be right in the finish.
Dangers:
ENFORCEMENT (5) On debut for the Snowden stable after winning two trials in very good fashion. JMac gets the ride and drawn well. Keep an eye on betting as I’m expecting to be supported if ready to go. STRASBOURG(1) Fitter after two recent trials prior to strong debut win at Newcastle as an odds on favourite. Fitter again for that effort and from good stable. This is harder however will run well. ACCESSION (3) Solid effort on debut working to the line in good fashion narrowly going down. From the strong Waller yard and Bowman goes on top. Fitter and not without some hope in this.
Race 6: Rzaor Sharp Handicap 1200m
CRADLE MOUNTAIN(9) Two runs this preparation have been very good being taken to the front and kicking strongly in the straight to score in slick time. The only other time he ran over this track and trip he won very well smashing the clock. A winner from 6 from 9 and very talented. Should continue on his winning way today.
Dangers:
DEPLOY (1) Fitter for first up run which was good going down narrowly. Form last preparation was very good for a race of this class and did compete in The Everest last year. Not the worst. BURNING PASSION (3) Good effort first up at Hawkesbury narrowly going down in a good time event. Since been kept ticking over with a solid trial and has an excellent second up record. He can feature in the finish with the right run.
Race 7: Villiers Handicap 1600m
SKYBOY (13) Has been nothing short of excellent recently winning four on the trot. Last start sat just behind the leaders and quickened well in the straight to score as a short priced favourite. The only query is the drop back to 1600m for mine however has been well supported in early markets and looks the one to beat.
Dangers:
INTERLOCUTER (7) Nice effort first up at Hawkesbury then won well last start taking out the Goulburn Cup in good time. From a strong stable and goes well here and over this trip. Ticks a lot of boxes. MY NORDIC HERO (5) Was good first up running second when specked at odds narrowly going down then last start with Bowman on quickened well again to score well and in good time Racing well and faces toughest test today. GAULOIS (14) Last two starts have been good working to the line well. Fitter for those two efforts and will appreciate the step up in trip today. Can feature in the finish.
Race 8: BM 88 Handicap 1600m
ORGANZA (15) Rattled to the line first up when specked in the betting to run into the placings then won well second up winning in good time as a well supported favourite. Fitter for those two efforts and the step up in trip should suit. Looks the one to beat.
Dangers:
FIERCE IMPACT (9) Is due to break through this preparation all four runs have been good in similar grade or higher and is a winner over the mile. Can win this. ROMAN SON (4) Fitter for first up effort where he worked to the line well. Form was good last preparation and the step up in trip should suit. Has ability. Watch betting. TIP TOP (7) Good behind the in form Cradle Mountain two starts back then again good behind Gaulois who is a chance in the Villiers. Can feature in the finish today.
Race 9: BM 78 Handicap 1400m
REGENT (9) Well supported in the betting last start at Warwick Farm and was a strong winner settling back in the field and finishing off strongly to score in good time. This doesn’t look a lot harder and Bowman stays on for the ride. One to beat in this.
Dangers:
ANTAH (10) Well supported when markets went up and was a very good winner at Pakenham last start settling back in field and proving to strong. Second up form is strong and JMac on top. Watch betting. MR TICKETS (7) First up run was good running on well, fitter for that effort and has performed well at this track and trip in the past. Can feature with the right run in transit. CAMPARI (14) Runs in Australia have been good since arriving. Two starts back won well in very quick time then just fair last start. Can bounce back in this.
