Race 1: Cabra Vale Diggers 1300m

GEM SONG (1) Fitter for first up run when didn’t have the best of luck in the straight when sent out as favourite. Last preparation was a winner at this course and drawn to get good cover in the run. Expecting him to be finishing off hard.

Dangers:

LADY OF SHALOTT (9) Well tried first up in the betting at Wyong. Had a nice trail and ran home soundly. Fitter for that effort and the extra 100m is a plus. Did run third last preparation when second up at listed level. ROYAL CELEBRATION (5) First up and has been tuned up with a nice trial. Form last preparation was good running a nice second first up then winning the next start in good time. Drawn to take up a forward position. Could give them something to catch. SKIDMAN (10) Impressive winner two starts back then last start again rattled home late to narrowly go down at Ballarat. Respect the stable travelling up with him. Might be a knocked chance at good each way odds.

Race 2: TAB Highway 1500m

RISK AND REWARD (4) Three runs this preparation have all been here and in this class and all very good on pace. Last start lead until late in running second. Peaks in condition today and the step up in trip looks to suit. Will be hard to rundown in the straight.

Dangers:

FOOTMARK (8)First up run at Albury was sound then last start at Wagga brained them winning by over 6 lengths in very impressive fashion. Is rarely far away in his races and expecting another forward showing today. RAPTURE MISS (5) Big win first up at home track flying home to score then brought to town last start and ran home soundly. Will get back and be running on again. SEEBLUME (3) Effort was better than it looks on paper. Slowly away and worked to the line well. Bowman goes on today is a big plus.

Race 3: Gloaming Stakes 1800m

TAVIRUN (4) Donald maiden winner two starts back is not the usual formula to win a G3 in Sydney, however was impressive there then went to town and won well on pace. Extra distance looks like it will suit him down to the ground and Bowman gets the ride. Goes very close

Dangers:

TARKA (1) Winner of his past 3 starts in good fashion. Last start sat off the pace and proved too strong at G2 level. He is a tough individual and expecting the extra trip to be no problem. Looks the clear danger. IRUKANDJI (2) Fitter for two runs back from a spell. Last start was solid to the line behind Tarka. Avdulla goes on is a plus and from strong yard.

Race 4: JRA Trophy 2400m

HARPER’S CHOICE (2) On the quick back up from Newcastle where he was fair. Excuses the start prior then was coming off two strong victories. Is a course and distance winner this preparation and should get a nice run from the draw. Expecting to be right in the finish in what is a very tricky race.

Dangers:

GOATHLAND (8) Fitter for three runs back from a spell and building up to a win. Last start at Newcastle tried hard in the straight running fourth following on from a good effort the start prior. The extra trip suits and peaks in fitness today. SIN TO WIN (6) Nice run at Caulfield first up over 1700m. Fitter for that effort and does go well second up. Slight query with the steep jump in distance, however is a winner over 3200m. ETAH JAMES (3) Nice effort first up then second up was trapped wide throughout. Fitter for those two efforts is lightly raced and a winner up to 2600m Has abit more upside than a couple of these.

Race 5: Shannon Stakes 1500m

YOUNGSTAR (6) Very good run first up flashing home at G2 level in good time. Should only be fiter for that effort and step up in trip suits. Won well when second up last preparation and drops nicely in weight. Should get a soft run from the draw and if she gets the breaks will be very hard to beat.

Dangers:

ARBEITSAM (2) First up run was good on pace then last start lead and probably over did it up front knocking up the final 300m. Looks the likely leader and if he gets his own way in front will prove hard to run down in the straight. NOIRE (5) Unlucky first up finishing up off hard to narrowly go down. Excellent win strike rate and has won the past two times when second up. Only query is the step up in distance 1200-1500m for mine.

Race 6: Golden Pendant 1400m

SHUMOOKH (10) Big drifter when first up at Wyong and was ran down in the shadows of the post. She is fitter for that effort and only other second up run was good on pace. Drawn to be able to take up the running and represents good each way I feel at the current quote of $11 in what is a very open race.

Dangers:

CHAMPAGNE CUDDLES (5) First up run on a heavy track was good holding position in the straight after being sent out as favourite. Should obtain a nice run behind the speed and has an excellent record at this course. Form last preparation good enough to win this. DIXIE BLOSSOMS (3)Solid performance first up running on well to finish third. Second up form is excellent. Should of almost won the G1 Coolmore second up last preparation. Only query is 9 starts here for no victories. PROMPT RESPONSE (1) Won a G1 in QLD last reparation before going for a spell. Tuned up nicely with two recent trial victories and excellent record at this. Must go into the mix.

Race 7: Golden Rose 1400m

LEAN MEAN MACHINE (1) Very impressive win first up getting along way back and beating Graff. Only lightly raced and the step up in trip should suit. Last preparation performed well second up at G3 level. Looks very talented and hard to beat in this.

Dangers:

GRAFF (4) First up won well here sittng just off the speed and proving to strong then last start tried hard after being trapped widebut was no match late for Lean Mean Machine when starting as favourite. Looks to be in the finish again. THE AUTUMN SUN (2) First up effort was very unlucky when finding trouble in the straight. Last start before spelling won a G1 level. Lightly raced and a winner of 3 from 4. Expecting him to be finding the line again. The race is between these three for mine no need to look further.

Race 8: Gow Gates 1400m

MANDYLION (5) Looks the likely leader in this. Last start lead and kicked strongly in the straight to lead from barrier to box. The start prior fought on well again to run third. Up slightly in class however drops 5kg in weight after the claim. Will give them something to catch in the straight.

Dangers:

FIERCE IMPACT (9) First up and only two runs last preparation since arriving from the UK were excellent finishing off well first up to place then proving too strong to win well. Recent trial performances suggest he is fit enough to be very competitive in this event. THE AVENGER (1) The writing was on the wall two starts back at MV getting back and finishing off hard to place. Then last start as favourite continued good form powering home to score. Bowman goes on today and must respect from the Waller yard. ASTORIA (2) First up and best distance is over something a bit longer, however was a recent trial winner and does have a touch of class. One for the multiples

Race 9: Handicap 2000m

ABDON (3) Good first up run over 1600m running on well to narrowly go down. Only other run in Australia was at Caulfield behind the flying Magic Consol. Step up in trip looks to suit and Bowman stays on today. Looks hard to beat in what is an open race.

Dangers:

JAKE’S HILL (11) Fitter for two runs from a spell where he has raced without luck in both. Only career win came at this distance range and has ran well in the past at group level. Expecting sharp improvement now out to ideal distance. OPPOSITION (12) Two runs this preparation have been better than it reads on paper. First up finished off well over an unsuitable trip then last start didn’t handle the heavy conditions. Fitter for those two efforts and step up in trip looks ideal. We are going to keep it to the Waller trio all at each way odds and hopefully get a nice quaddie result for us all.
