Race 1: 2yo Handicap 1000m
ESPAANIYAH (1) Was good in a trial prior to going to the Valley on debut and winning well on pace as favourite. First up today and won a recent Randwick trial in a tune up for this. Will be looking to kick up from this inside draw and should be right in the finish in what is a very tricky event.
Dangers:
AUSSIE (4) On debut for the Snowden yard and has been good in two recent trials the last a good winner at Rosehill. Bowman takes the ride and drawn well. Must be respected. DAWN PASSAGE (6) Has won two recent trials the last at Wyong for this first starter from the Waterhouse yard. Will be looking to hold a forward position and Shinn rides. Would be keeping a close eye on betting markets. ITALIAN WITNESS (16) Well supported favourite in betting for its debut at Flemington however didn’t offer a lot after looking good in the jumpouts. Fitter for that effort and happy to give another chance at $31 today.
Race 2: TAB Highway Handicap 1100m
SHE’S SPICY (8) Lightly raced and a strong winner two starts back at Doomben sitting just off the speed and powering to the line. Last start as a short priced favourite again ran on strong to narrowly go down. AT peak fitness now and Avdulla takes the ride, stable has a fantastic record in these Highway races. Expecting her to be right in the finish.
Dangers:
SAFE LANDING (11) First up and lightly raced. Form last preparation was very good including a big victory two starts back at Goulburn winning by almost 6 lengths then a sound effort at this grade when well supported. Can win this. Watch betting. ACQUITTAL (2) First up effort behind the smart Star Fall was good holding ground to the line. Fitter for that effort and gets to the right class of race. Expecting a forward showing. PIERINO (4) First up with a good fresh record. Ran well in this grade before spelling and previous form to that was very good in weaker grades. Can take up a forward position and respect this yard in these races. Can measure up today.
Race 3: 3yo Handicap 1100m
STAR FALL (1) Made it three in a row this preparation last start at after just sitting behind the speed and sprinting well to score. Is now a winner for four from six overall starts and the step up to 1100m looks to be no issue. Smart galloper from a very good stable. Looks hard to beat again.
Dangers:
SYLVIA’S MOTHER (2) Lightly raced and made it two from two this preparation sititng off the speed at Canterbury as a very short priced favourite to win well. Thrid from that event has since won well. Form stacks up and from strong yard. Looks the clear danger to the top selection. WONDERBABE (3) Two in a row this preparation sitting just off the leaders and sprinting well to score in lower grades than is meeting today. Still improving and can measure up. This is her hardest test to date.
Race 4: BM 78 Handicap 1600m
TORYJOY (3) Good winner two starts back then last start was only rundown late in the piece in a very quick time event racing on speed. This doesn’t look much harder and Bowman takes the ride today. If she can obtain a softer run in front she will be very hard to hold out in the finish. One to beat.
Dangers:
NICCI’S GOLD (1) Powered home to win well at Warwick Farm three starts back then the last two have been sound working to the line well. On a quick back up from last weekend and gets in well after the claim. Expecting to see her right in the finish. BELLA SUCCESS (9) Form lines up around the top two selections. Last start ran on strongly to finish third in a very quick time event for the 1500m. The extra 100m looks no issue and if the over do it up from she will be one running on I feel. Good each way bet.
Race 5: BM 88 Handicap 2000m
ROMAN SON (1) The last two starts have both been good at Group and listed level and todays drops back to a BM 88. At peak fitness now and will drift back from the draw I am expecting him to be strong to the line late and looks a good bet at the current quote of $8 on an each way basis.
Dangers:
SO YOU WIN (6) Well backed last start and won well winning by almost four lengths on the line. A slight rise in class however it is offset with the nice drop in weight. Looks a clear threat to the top selection. ISLAND MISSILE (7) Racing well this preparation without tasting success. Last start was another solid second working to the line well. Drops 4.5 kg from last start. Only query is the 2000m. If he can run it out can play a strong hand in the finish.
Race 6: BM 78 Handicap 1100m
TANIKO (7) Racing well. Made it two wins from her last three starts settling back off the speed and sprinting well to score in a very good time. Should be able to obtain a soft run from the draw and Bowman takes the ride today. This doesn’t look much harder and looks the one to beat for mine.
Dangers:
SEI STELLA (8) First up effort was good winning TAB Highway then last start was rundown late in a very slick time for the 1000m. Should be able to cross for the draw and take up a forward position and give them something to catch if she can obtain a soft. MALAHAT (2) First up and fitter for two recent trials. Although didn’t win last preparation ran well in higher grade races than is meeting today. Stable has a very good fresh record with its runners and this runner is no exception. Keep an eye on betting.
Race 7: Carrington Stakes 1400m
FLOW (4) Looked good winning a trial to first up performance at Doomben which was just sound. Has since trialed very well again and Bowman gets the ride today. Fitter for the first up performance and second up record is excellent. Form last preparation was very good at listed level. Expecting a much improved showing today and can take this out.
Dangers:
ENDLESS DRAMA (1) Last four starts which have all been sound efforts have all been a G1 level. First up today and a recent trial winner at Rosehill in good fashion. Has the class to take this out and from the strong Waller yard. Keep an eye on betting. TOM MELBOURNE (5) First up with good fresh record. Has raced well in much higher grade races than is meeting today. Rarely wins however always around the mark. Can run into the placings today.
Race 8: BM 78 Handicap 1400m
DEALMAKER (10) Talented 3yo who is first up today. Fitter for recent trial where he worked to the line in solid fashion. Three starts back did beat The Autumn Sun home in the Stan Fox. Happy to forgive the two starts prior to the spell when found the 2000m too far. More upside than a few of these and looks hard to beat today.
Dangers:
SONDELON (8) First up and fitter for two recent trials which have been sound. When first up last campaign won well at Newcastle as a heavily backed favourite. Should take up a forward position from the draw and be in the finish. SUPER STAR BOB (9) Fit and consistent performer. Good run two starts back hitting the line well to run second in similar garde then happy to forgive last start when well in the betting. Can feature in the placings today. ONLY TIGER (5) Fitter for two recent trials. First up record is sound. Will be looking for further in rip however I’m expecting to be working to the line late and can sneak into the placings.
Race 9: BM 88 Handicap 1600m
ORGANZA (6) Racing very well this preparation finishing no worse than a length from the winner in the past five runs. Last start worked to the line well to narrowly go down to run second. Drawn to get a soft run behind the speed and Avdulla gets the ride. Looks very hard to beat in this grade.
Dangers:
SAMADOUBT(4) Good winner in quick time two starts back then again last start ran well on pace to run second in another solid time. Takes up a forward position again today. Should be right in the finish. GRESHAM (1) Sent out as a short priced favourite last start and won well in good time after sitting just behind the leaders in the run. Will find this easier than recent assignments will just need a bit of luck from the wide draw.
