Race 5: BM 66 Handicap 1600m
KULNURA (3) Good winner three starts back then not disgraced two starts back at Rosehill when specked in the betting. Last start was a good second on pace in similar class. Fit and racing well in this grade and will find a good position from the draw. Looks hard to beat.
Dangers:
ELKANO (9) Fitter for three runs back from a spell which have all been sound without winning. Last start was specked in the betting and ran home soundly to narrowly go down and run second. Peaks today and from very good stable. CLUNES ROCKET (7) Last two runs have been run placings at double figure odds in both. Winner at this distance range and drawn to get a nice run. Can run into the money.
Race 6: Cessnock Cup 2300m
KEEP UP (1) Wasn’t disgraced behind at smart in town first up then was heavily backed second up and won well at Hawkesbury over 2100m. Fitter for two runs back and the extra distance looks to be no issue. Won with 58.5 last start which should pose no issue and will get a soft run from the draw. With even luck goes very close.
Dangers:
DYLAN’S ROMANCE (2) Went down narrowly last start as a short priced favourite then the previous two runs were sound in higher grade for a race of this class. Slight query at the trip however looks the clear second pick. HIROKIN (3) Should be at peak fitness after four runs back and the last two starts in country cups were both sound efforts. Racing well, however will need to find a length or two to take this out however can sneak a place.
Race 7: Maiden 1200m
NICK THE SKIP (4) Ultra consistent and so close to breaking maiden status. Has run second at his last four starts which have all been sound runs. Last start was a well backed favourite at Scone and worked home well to narrowly go down in a good time event. Surely today is the day? Looks hard to beat again.
Dangers:
SMOKIN’ SUZY (8) Three runs back from a spell have been good. Last start got back and rattled home late to run second. Drawn a touch wide and will drift back and be hitting the line well. PLEASURE BOMB (12) Had a few opportunities however is racing well without breaking through. Should get a good run from the draw and can be in the finish again today. ROSARIA CATERINA (7) First up and from good stable. The two starts prior to spelling were good at Scone running on well in both. Will be working to the line again.
Race 8: Class 4 Handicap 1350m
SUGAR DANCE (2) First up run at Bathurst was good running on well to run second then went to town for a TAB Highway and was sent out as favourite and knocked up in the straight. Fitter for two runs back and previous form is good enough to be taking this out. Looks hard to beat.
Dangers:
COSMIC REIGN (1) Winner of two of his past three in good style. Last start at his home track was taken to the front and won narrowly as a well backed favourite. Looks a clear threat to the top pick. TYPHOON BONNY (10) The last four starts have produced four thirds. Fit and racing well. Should find a position behind the leaders and can be in the finish again. THE GRANDSON (3) Was a good effort two starts back then happy to forgive last start. A very good record at this distance range. Can run into the placings.
