Caulfield Racing Tips

Track: Good 4. Rail: True

Best Bet: Race 6 – OREGONS DAY

=====

Race 1: BM84 Handicap 2400m

OPPOSITION (6) drops back from the Group One Metropolitan in Sydney last time, he made up plenty of ground in the straight from a mile back. Still yet to rack up his first win since coming to Australia, this looks a suitable assignment. The trip will be no problem, look for him late.

Dangers:

STEEL PRINCE (5) has been up for a long time but is racing well, winner of his last couple, he raced a lot closer last time and was up on the speed. VALAC (2) was good in SA last time after sitting wide early before getting up on the speed. He ran it out well and was simply too good for them after doing all the work. AZURO (4) seems to be improving with every run under his belt, he did have every chance though last time in that same race in SA that Valac won.

Race 2: 3YO BM70 Handicap 1600m

YULONG METEOR (13) has not missed a place at all three runs this campaign, she has had her chances but coming back in trip may assist. She will get back and there looks a bit of speed here, her maiden win on the synthetic was super.

Dangers:

JUNIPAL (7) is lining up for a 5th start at her first prep, he got the maiden win out of the way last time on a heavy track. He had the perfect run in transit but put them away in a stride, eventually winning by 10! Any rain around and he will be rocketing to the top of selections. SILENT EXPLORER (3) comes through different form lines north of the border, he will roll forward early from the wide gate. REAL SUCCESS (1) next best, both his runs back have been good this prep.

Race 3: BM84 Handicap 1400m

FIFTY STARS (7) got beat for the first time in his career when resuming, he had a tough wide run and was still coming through the line. This looks no harder, he should roll forward and get to the spot outside the leader. He looks better than these.

Dangers:

SO FAR SOKOOL (8) was a little one pace when resuming, she has won 2 of 3 when second-up and should be running on hard. AMADEUS (4) was very good resuming, he was well back, ran on hard before being held-up. Once clear he ran on hard again late. MURAAHIB (9) maps well, he was poor last start but did appear in the steward’s report. Go on his two previous wins on the synthetic.

Race 4: BM84 Handicap 1700m

TAKE IT INTERN (2) is an interesting runner, he is an import that has been here for one run in a harder metro race more than a fortnight ago. He settled well back, came wide and ran on very hard and was good through the line. He gets out in trip, that looks to suit and he looks a real improver. Look for him late.

Dangers:

ÉCLAIR CALLING (3) is a last start winner at 78 grade, he was midfield in the run and ran on hard to win comfortably. He has not missed a place in 3 career starts here. A SHIN ROOK (1) has won two races since coming from Japan, he ran on hard to win at HQ last time. GUSTAVUS VASSA (4) is an interesting runner, he is an import but has only been off the track 5 weeks so the fitness should still be there. Watch for any money late in the betting.

Race 5: Blue Sapphire Stakes 3YO Set Weights 1200m

WRITTEN BY (1) has only tasted defeat once in his career, that was in the Golden Slipper earlier in the year when starting favourite. He was unwanted in betting when resuming, led and won with ease. This field looks no tougher, he will jump on the bunny and cop no pressure in the small field.

Dangers:

SMART ELISSIM (5) and PERFORMER (3) both come through the Run to The Rose in Sydney, both well beaten but will appreciate coming back off the heavy ground here. ENCRYPTION (2) was a winner at big odds at Flemington, he will be giving them a big start and looks a good lay if he starts as second favourite.

Race 6: Ladies Day Vase Mares 1600m

OREGON’S DAY (2) looks the best of good things here. She has had three runs back from the paddock, beaten under 2 lengths fresh by a placegetter in the Everest, under a length second-up behind Humidor in the Memsie and ran on well in the Sir Rupert Clarke last time. Dropping back to this grade against the girls, fully fit, she will be charging all over the top of them.

Dangers:

I AM A STAR (1) looks the obvious danger and gets in well at the weights. She has put two Group Two victories together at her latest couple, she will have the opposite racing pattern and go forward. If she finds the rails she will be very hard to run down. LA BELLA DIOSA (6) was ok behind her a couple back and will run on hard and MRS GARDENIA (7) looked to have every opportunity last time when runner-up. She maps well again.

Race 7: Caulfield Village Stakes 1200m

TREKKING (3) is a winner, he always seems to do most things right in his races and he maps well again here. He has won three of four this campaign, his only defeat was on a soft track where he chased hard through the line to finish 2nd.

Dangers:

PEDRENA (2) is resuming, she went to Brisbane in the winter and took on harder races than this and was a Group Three winner up there. She has won 2/5 when resuming so she can sprint well fresh. ADDICTIVE NATURE (12) comes to the Weir yard for his first run, he has showed a stack of ability in limited starts and must be respected. Last seen in the Australian Guineas, watch the money for him with the new stable today. MAN OF HIS WORD (9) changes trainer, coming to a very underrated stable his form had tapered off in Queensland but expect him to be a big improver.

Race 8: BM78 Handicap 2000m

LUCKY FOR ALL (3) can do plenty wrong, he has all but thrown away the first two races this time in with his wayward antics in the straight. He maps well here, gets the junior jock which is a little concerning but if he goes straight he will be too strong.

Dangers:

DANON ROMAN (2) is a Japanese import that has been here for two runs only, he was a little one paced fresh but ran on hard last time. He will find this easier, gets JMac on and should be fully fit. NETHERFIELD (7) has been across the border at his last couple but needs to improve on what he has been doing this time in and can do from the soft draw. LEGALE (10) next best, he will find this harder than the last start sales restricted race.
