Race 5: Maiden Plate 1900m
INVICTUS WARRIOR (7) Fitter for three runs back from a spell. Last start raced on pace at Warwick Farm and was only run down late in solid performance. Should be able to drive up from an inside gate and get a softer lead today which is always a big plus at Canterbury. Can break through today.
Dangers:
COSTA ZOU (6) Two starts back ran home well at Hawkesbury getting well back and hitting the line soundly. Back to 1600m last start and ridden closer to the lead and was sound again running second. Peaks in fitness. Can feature. MANGIONE (8) Just the two career starts and last start improved sharply running second when stepping up to the 1500m at Newcastle. Better for those two runs and from strong yard and the rise in distance looks to suit. Sure to be in the finish.
Race 6: Handicap BM 70 1900m
FAST TRAIN (7) Happy to forgive last start as a very short priced favourite and go on the previous win at Hawkesbury winning as favourite by over 6 lengths in impressive fashion. Back to the 1900m is a plus and Avdulla stays on for the ride. Drawn well and can feature in the finish.
Dangers:
SEMPER FIDELIS (5) Well backed last start at Newcastle and won well sitting on the speed and fighting on hard in the straight to score. Has started under $3 at four of the past five starts. Very consistent and sure to be in the finish again tonight. MISS SHANTI (2) No match for the very smart Girl Tuesday two starts back then last start worked to the line well behind Savacool. Was just over 3 lengths behind Youngstar 4 starts back at G1 level. Step up in trip suits and can feature in the finish.
Race 7: Kia Evening Star Handicap 1250m
ARTIES DREAMWINNER (8) Forgive effort last start and go on the previous two runs before that where it was a strong on pace effort at Caulfield as favourite and winning at Morphettville very easy in the start prior starting as well backed favourite. Avdulla gets the ride and should obtain a nice run from the barrier.
Dangers:
SEXY EYES (7) Two good runs this preparation running second in both after sitting midfield and working to the line well. Fitter for those efforts and has ran well here in the past. Looks a clear threat. BUDDEROO KNIGHT (10) On pacer who is racing well in lower grade. Last start lead until late after being a well backed favourite and the start prior won well at Kembla Grange s a short priced favourite. CRAFTY TYCOON (9)Fit and has raced well here in the past and a good record on a soft track. Nice winner at Warwick Farm three starts back says he is good enough to feature here. Will be running on.
Race 8: Caterez Handicap 1100m
PIERINA (8) First up and a winner of two from three since arriving in Australia. Won well first up last preparation at Scone breaking maiden status. Has trialed twice leading into this which looked good o the eye. Small query on the heavy track however has more upside than a few of these. Expecting to go close..
Dangers:
DEFT (10) First up and looked good in a recent trial. Only start she had here last preparation she won well sitting midfield and sprinting well. She is from a strong stable. Keep an eye on betting. SEBRING EXPRESS (9) Good winner first up at Kembla Grange in good time then made it two in a row winning at Gosford. Looks hard to beat again in this. INANUP (7) Good winner three starts back at Wyong then a sound second on pace on a heavy track. Will go forward is fit and can feature in the finish.
