Moonee Valley Racing Tips

Track: Good 3. Rail: Out 6m entire circuit

Best Bet: Race 6 – PIERROCITY

=====

Race 1: 3YO Maiden Plate 1200m

PLENTY (6) has been placed at both runs this campaign, both here at the Valley. He did plenty wrong and ran on well resuming, then sat up on the speed and appeared to have every chance last time. This looks no harder but a little concerned with the draw.

Dangers:

BEERZ WITH CLINT (2) has been runner-up at his last couple, he has shown that he is versatile in being able to lead or come from back in the field. He was only fair at his 1st go at the Valley three starts back, but that has proven to be a good form reference. Watch for any money for the first starters BAM SHAM (1) and ELIGERE (5) who is well drawn.

Race 2: 3YO Fillies BM64 Handicap 1200m

BONITO (1) was a winner on debut then went to a 70-grade race last time here against the girls and was good but still has a bi to learn. She gets the winkers on for the first time which looked a necessity, with that look at the track under her belt and back in this grade she will be hard to beat.

Dangers:

PICK UP THE PIECES (2) was a last start maiden winner, she will find this harder but she showed good speed and will be hard to run down around here. STEAMBOAT SALLY (3) is very consistent, she will also go forward but may have to sit outside the leader. SOARING EAGLE (5) has been runner-up at her last couple, she has been a little costly for punters of late but was most unlucky two back.

Race 3: BM70 Handicap 1600m

BAD WOLF (1) has been up for a long time this prep but has had a month off to freshen up for this. He has tactical speed and if the apprentice is able to get him to the spot outside the leader and can control the tempo from there, he will be hard to get past in the straight.

Dangers:

MACROBIUS (2) is a last start winner in easier grade, he will go forward as well and the jock will have the option to lead or take a sit from the good gate. THE PASSAGE (4) was only fair north of the border when resuming on a heavy track but looks an improver back on top of the ground. DOUBLE YOU TEE (6) is a last start winner on the soft ground at 64 level, he will probably be giving them a start but if they go hard, look for him late.

Race 4: Mares BM64 Handicap 1200m

CARRIBEAN PEARL (10) looked outclassed a fortnight ago here, but she ran on hard form a mile back and was a real eye-catcher. She gets a good claim but has the shocking draw, the apprentice will need to be on top of his game but if he gets cover, look for her swooping late.

Dangers:

HONEY ESPRIT (3) looks the obvious danger, she ran on well in a race no easier than this when resuming. She has placed at her only other second-up run but also draws poorly. CASA DE LAGO (1) is resuming, she may need the run but she looks well in at this level and was racing against better opposition when last in work. UPTOWN LILLY (11) placed at her only look at the track after having no luck in the run, she maps well and should have a good sit on the leader’s backs.

Race 5: BM70 Handicap 955m

The jump and run 955m dash for the night looks a super-hard start to the Quadrella. REDCORE (4) was good resuming, comes back a little in trip but if he gets the right cart into it, he will finish hard. TBILISI (6) was a winner of one of these last time in easier grade, he may need to be ridden for luck and will be giving them a start but will fly late. I AM SOMEONE (7) placed here last month over this trip, he will also need luck from the wide draw. FREEZE OVER (11) races well here not missing a place at three runs at the track, she has speed and will try and land on the bunny early.

Race 6: BM64 Handicap 2040m

PIERROCITY (7) is dropping a stack in class from a 78-grade race against the girls last time, she was well back and ran on hard in a race that has proven a good form reference. She has versatility, back in this grade from the good gate expect her to be a lot closer to the speed.

Dangers:

ESPOSITO GOLD (6) is a last start winner over a mile here a week ago in easier grade, she looks the leader and will give them something to catch. CLEO’S POET (4) has speed and will also go forward, forget he went around at Pakenham last start when well beaten after pulling up with thumps. He had been very consistent prior to that and has placed at his only look at the track. PRINCE ZIGGY (2) has been consistent this campaign but has been up for a long time, his last start win was super north of the border after working.

Race 7: BM78 Handicap 1200m

A lot will depend if the emergency MASTERING (13) gets a start or not here as he will likely to be the short-priced favourite if doing so. He has tactical speed from a middle gate, a brilliant last start winner in this grade where he led throughout and won by six. He is the one to beat.

Dangers:

If he does not get a start but the first emergency MAGNESIUM ROSE (12) does, she looks the hardest to beat. She was super here last time in a similar race after being forced to run wide throughout. She draws well and looks the only danger. Throw in EASY BEAT (10) with the blinkers back on up on the speed and SABOTAGE (9) who is resuming, he will get back but can sprint well enough fresh. Mastering looks one of the best of the night if he gets a start.

Race 8: Fillies and Mares BM70 Handicap 1600m

VITANI (7) has only missed a place once in her eight-start career, she has good tactical speed and will be up on the pace. She loses nothing obviously with Williams going on for Melham but it is her first look at the track, which is a concern.

Dangers:

FRENCH GIRL (6) is also at the Valley for the first time, she had a six-week break before attempting to lead all the way at Sandown last time when run down late. PALMATEER (3) draws wide, she was wide with cover last time here and had no luck at a vital time before running on hard to just miss. It wouldn’t surprise to see her go one better with the right cart into it. EXTREME BLISS (5) is likely to get back from the draw, she has been very consistent this time in. It looks a tough way to finish the Quaddie, play wide after going one out in the previous leg.
