Race 1: 2yo Handicap 1000m
YITAI SYNERGY (12) Has looked the part in recent trials winning both comfortably and in good time. When markets went up for the race was very well supported straight away. Looks to have ability and the market is suggesting she does do. Goes close.
Dangers:
HIGHTAIL (1) Two solid trials prior to debut effort at Kembla Grange where he sat just behind the pace and won well. Should only be improved from that effort and has race experience. ENRAGED (6) In the market on debut at Kembla Grange and didn’t offer alot. Fitter, gear changes and Bowman on. Happy to give another chance today. IGNITING (3) Well bred colt on debut who won well at only trial on a heavy track at Canterbury. From a good yard and I would be keeping an eye on betting.
Race 2: TAB Highway Handicap 1100m
RISK AND REWARD (5) Tricky race as always. Last five runs have been in similar class and has ran well in all of them without winning. I think up to 1100m suits and getting onto a drier track. Should be camped right behind the leaders from the draw. Looks the safest option in what is an open race.
Dangers:
MANZANA (3) Fitter for two runs back from a spell which have both been good without winning. The step up in trip looks to suit and only run at this venue was sound on pace. Can feature in the finish. ORI ON FIRE (6) Well tried first up at Mudgee and was sound on pace in a quick time event. Good second up record and has run well here in the past at this track and in this class. Can feature. EQUAL BALANCE (1) Gets back to a more suitable grade for mine. Freshened up and has a good fresh record. Respect the stable and expecting him to be running home well.
Race 3: BM 88 Handicap 1400m
SWEET DEAL (3) Racing well this preparation winning her last two starts in good fashion sitting midfield and proving to strong in the run to the line. Steps up abit in grade today however does get a good weight relief and drawn to obtain a soft run. Small query at this track however looks the one to beat.
Dangers:
BONDI (8) Talented 3yo who will be better for the run after a solid second at Wyong last start when easy in the betting. The step up in trip suits and races well here. Expecting a very forward showing. ONSLAUGHT (1) Much improved second up effort running into the placings at a big price last start. From the strong Snowden yard and reaching peaking fitness. Can run a bold race. Watch betting.
Race 4: BM 76 Handicap 1400m
MISTER SONGMAN (3) Fitter for two good runs back from a spell. Last start sat just behind the speed and went down narrowly. The step up in trip suits and this doesn’t look any harder than what he is racing against. Looks clearly the one to beat.
Dangers:
FUCHU (3) Winner of his past two starts at Newcastle and Wyong in good fashion running on strongly in the straight. Excellent record at this trip. This harder however deserves a crack in town. GOOD WEATHER (5) Fitter for two runs back from a spell which have both been sound without winning. Will need to find a length or two to win the race however can sneak into the placings with the right run.
Race 5: BM 78 Handicap 1800m
ASTERIUS (3) Very good in two career runs. On debut narrowly went down when sitting just off the pace and working to the line well at Newcastle then last start was again a narrow second. Should obtain a nice run just behind the leaders in this and with even luck will be right in the finish.
Dangers:
TURNBERRY (2) On debut for the Snowden stable after winning two trials in very good fashion. JMac gets the ride and drawn well. Keep an eye on betting as I’m expecting to be supported if ready to go. LIVE AND FREE (6) Fitter after two recent trials prior to strong debut win at Newcastle as an odds on favourite. Fitter again for that effort and from good stable. This is harder however will run well. ISLAND MISSILE (7).
Race 6: Christmas Classic 1200m
ALIZEE (1) High class mare who is first up today after two very nice trials. From last preparation was excellent for a race of this class including victories at G1 & G2 levels in excellent fashion. Excellent fresh record and record at this track and Bowman gets the ride. Will get back from the draw and be storming home late.
Dangers:
FELL SWOOP (2) Strong on pace winner last start beating Cradle Mountain and in good time. Will take up the running and does a fitness edge on the top pick so will give her something to catch. Can win with the right run. PROBLEM SOLVER (8) Very good winner last start at Wyong in a low flying time. Fitter now for two runs back from a spell and will need to be at the top of her game to win however can sneak into the placings today.
Race 7: BM 94 Handicap 1600m
GRESHAM (7) Fitter for two runs back from a spell. Last start was taken to the front and only rundown in the shadows of the post in a strong effort. Expecting again to roll forward from an outside draw and 2 of 3 of his career wins have come at this distance. Looks hard to beat.
Dangers:
REFLECTIVITY (8) He broke through last start winning as a well supported favourite. Should be at peak fitness today and is a winner of this trip and from strong yard. Gets in well after the claim. Can win. TIP TOP (3) Track and distance winner last start sitting just behind the speed and proving to strong down the straight. A bit of a tricky draw however flies here and can be in the finish today.
Race 8: BM 78 Handicap 1200m
SOUTHERN LAD (6) Lightly raced and talented galloper who is first up today. A winner of three of his past five and can produce a big sprint at the end of his races. Looked the part in a recent trial running home well behind the very smart Alizee. Gets in well after the claim and at the price represents abit more value than the favourite I feel.
Dangers:
DEPRIVE (4) Has come back well this preparation with a good first up effort then second up won well here sitting back and powering home to score. Fitter for those efforts and will be right in the finish. POETIC CHARMER (12) Racing well winning the past two starts in good fashion in weaker grade. I feel will push forward from an outside draw and can give some cheek in the straight and be in the finish. Up in class but don’t rule out. KAPAJACK (14) Just the two career starts and won well on debut beating Mister Songman who goes around as an odds on favourite today then second up was sound to the line as favourite. Fitter and keep an eye on betting.
Race 9: BM 78 Handicap 1200m
SAVVAN (1) First up run was very good running on strongly to the line to narrowly go down when specked in the betting. Fitter for that effort and hasn’t missed the placings when second up. Was scratched from Christmas Classic for this easier assignment. Form last preparation is good enough for this. Looks hard to beat in this
Dangers:
ZONK (2) First up and fitter for two recent trials which have been good. Two of the three career wins have come from first up efforts and form last preparation reads well for this. KAWAIKINI (6) Talented mare who needs to a bit to go right to win however can unleash a powerful sprint. Run last start was in higher grade and rattled home to the line. Can run into the placings today. TANIKO (10) Has won two of the four starts this preparation. Today is a step up in grade however from strong yard and Bowman rides. Reluctant to leave out.
