Sandown Racing Tips

Track: Good 4. Rail: True

Best Bet: Race 7 – FRIAR FOX

=====

Race 1: Maiden 1400m

DECLARES WAR (5) gets the blinkers on for the first time at career start number three. He was unwanted on debut and a little plain when close to the speed, then went to Kyneton and was double figures odds before getting well back and storming home late. He should be ready to go here third-up with the gear change.

Dangers:

DEPLOYS ALONE (6) has been on rain affected tracks at both trips to the races, he looks like he still has plenty to learn but was brave going down narrowly last time. He should be up on the speed from the good draw. LOGAN RIVER (7) is from the McEvoy yard, third-up today he showed improvement last time across the border albeit having every chance. He has been costly for punters but obviously has the ability. JUNGLE JANE (9) showed some promise at her debut running on fairly, she gets the extra furlong and is well drawn.

Race 2: Maiden 3YO Fillies 1200m

It looks one of the most open races you will ever bet on. DESPACITO (3) was only fair across the border at her first two starts, she was sent to the paddock and resumed at Morphetville a fortnight ago. She was not in touch with them in the run, tacked on before storming home when running about and very green in the straight. She looks to have the ability.

Dangers:

FANTIZZY GIRL (5) made some ground late after over-racing throughout on debut, she will have taken a lot from that run. GERMANOTTA (7) has been very costly as a beaten favourite at both runs this time in, she had her chance fresh then was very brave in defeat last time when wide without cover on the speed. She won’t be a maiden for long. ORDELL (12) has placed at both runs, she ran on hard at both of those before the break and returns with the blinkers on. Expect some money for her.

Race 3: BM64 3YO 1200m

KAPLUMPICH (1) was dropping back from Listed grade at the Valley last start when winning a similar race to this. He wasn’t overly impressive after getting the right run, he may sharpen up with the blinkers on for the first time today but does have to carry the extra weight.

Dangers:

OUR LONG SALI (4) will find this easier than her last couple of runs, she has been working home strong and should handle this no problem back against the boys. SNITZ AND THE CITY (5) was an impressive winner on debut when leading throughout, ZUOBO (6) is also undefeated after her debut run, she won from the back and charged clear, the further they went the further the margiin would have been.

Race 4: BM64 Handicap 1600m

BOLTOUTOFTHEBLUE (3) has been so consistent this campaign placing at all five runs, a little worrying that he has had his chances and unable to get the major cheque, but he once again maps beautifully and should be camped right on the leaders.

Dangers:

GROSVENOR BRIDGE (5) with the blinkers back on would have been at the top of the selections had he not drawn so poorly, he comes through a hot form race at his Australian debut and then had no luck late when running on last time. RUBY SKYE (6) is another that will get back and run on hard whilst FRANKEL MY DEAR (2) is on the quick back-up and must be considered if he comes here.

Race 5: BM70 Handicap 1400m

MR EXCLUSIVE (13) doesn’t have great numerical form but he sure will appreciate being back against these types. He was well beaten by the future star of Australian racing The Autumn Sun in the Caulfield guineas when well back throughout, went to Flemington over the carnival and wasn’t disgraced in the Carbine Club at Group 3 level over a mile. Back in trip and way down in class, if Williams can get cover and a cart into it, he looks very hard to beat.

Dangers:

EXTREME BLISS (12) was racing well here in Vic before heading north last start where she appeared to have every chance. Drawn to get the gun run and now fully fit, she looks to be an improver. MOET ROSE (10) is drawn horribly, and was also north of the border last start, she will probably need to get the back of the favourite in the run home to have a chance. SIR KALAHAD (9) will roll forward but doesn’t look as well suited on the speed here on the big track.

Race 6: BM64 Handicap 2400m

ALL HARD WOOD (2) gets an advantage of being drawn beautifully in the capacity field, he ran on hard at Sale to win over the mile then seemed to have every chance at Geelong. He gets out in trip again here to the mile-and-a-half, he probably needs to be saved for one run but gets the right draw for that.

Dangers:

Most of the field in what looks a very open race. KALALO (4) is horribly drawn but gets a positive jockey change with Williams going on. He has won three in a row and looks to have turned the corner going through the grades nicely this time in. Will go forward, will need some Wiliams magic though from out there. PRINCE ALBY (5) is also drawn out, he will go back though and will appreciate coming back on top of the track after struggling in the heavy last time in a much harder race. DA DEPUTY (7) may have some upside, he was a last start maiden winner and is only lightly raced. He really attacked the line at this same distance last start.

Race 7: BM78 Handicap Fillies and Mares 2100m

FRIAR FOX (2) drops back against her own sex here, she opened up very short in the red last start in a harder race and drifted alarmingly, after getting well back she was strong through the line and only went under by a length. She should be fully fit here fourth-up with the lethal Weir/Allen combo.

Dangers:

EARTH ANGEL (4) had no luck in a harder race on Oaks day, she hit the line hard and should be better for the run, third-up today. SWEET MISCHIEF (8) looks one of the leaders, she is better than her last start effort where she weakened badly after working to find the front. CABIERRO (9) will also be up on the speed but may be better suited to take a sit, her form this time in has been good without a lot of luck.

Race 8: BM64 Handicap 1200m

BOLEK (2) has only missed a placing once in his six-start career, that was on debut. He has had one run back from the paddock, led them up on the big track at Bendigo and although he looked gone, he fought on strong. He will have taken plenty from that run and should roll forward to try and lead all the way again.

Dangers:

MOONLIGHT RUBY (4) has been good at both runs this campaign, he gets the winkers on, will get back and run on hard. PURE REBEL (8) has the good ate to get the soft run he needs, he may be ridden for luck as he will get back. Look for him late. OCEAN DEEP (12) won both her starts at her first prep, was sent to the paddock and was only fair albeit in harder races at preparation number two. She has been off the scene more than 7 months, watch for any money for her, she obviously has the talent.
