Here’s our Big 6 Horse Racing Tips for Saturday Dec 22

Friday

Moonee Valley

R7 #2 PALAZZO VECCHIO
“Went into everyone’s blackbook last time here a fortnight ago. She was mid-field before saving ground, ran right up behind the leader approaching the straight and was never tested. She draws well again and certainly doesn’t lose anything with Oliver going on.”

Saturday

Flemington

R1 #4 QUEEN LA DIVA
“Progressive filly who has improved ratings dramatically past couple. Back in trip but looks good pace and she will enjoy the big track.”
(Champion Bets)

R9 #12 MASTERING
“Don’t be afraid to take him one-out in the Quaddie. He will find this harder than what he raced when resuming, but the way he won that was unforgettable. He showed a lot more speed than races at his previous prep, led and kicked to win by 6 lengths. There has been a winner out of that race already so the formline is holding up. Just a matter of bringing that form to the straight.”

Warwick Farm

R6 #8 THE ART OF THE BAR
Used-Up/ Pressure early here latest and forced to run 1st-600m some 7.6L above class average yet he kept running! Great win. Was 2L off Graff one day. Doubt 1400m an issue. Top pick.”
(Oz Racing Form)

Morphettville

R6 #3 COUNTER SPIN
“HAdmittedly hasn’t won for a whopping 68 weeks and isn’t getting any younger however reckon it would also be fair to say this bloke wouldn’t have found many races during that time more suitable than this. Should be now close to peak being third-up now, maps ideally sitting just off what looks to be a genuine tempo…really fancy him at the opening $4.60!! Also respecting Pale Ale ($4.20), reckon these two runners rate clearly ahead of the rest.”
(Our man in SA)

Ascot

R2 #2 NORDIC KING
“Has won both starts this prep and only cops an extra kilo for doing so. It should get the run of the race for Pike however the query is the step up to the mile where NORDIC KING has had two starts and has yet to fill a place. That stat may be a tad misleading as it was held up for the entirety of the straight at its first attempt and then held up until the 100m mark at its second attempt. A better guide might be its run at 1700m where it ran 2nd beaten half a length in a good rating race. It’s hard to make a strong case for anything else and really is NORDIC KING’S race to lose.”
