Flemington Racing Tips

Track: Good 4. Rail: Out 6m entire circuit.

Best Bet: Race 9 – I AM SOMEONE

=====

Race 1: Super VOBIS 2YO Plate 1000m

With all but one of the 2YO on debut, It is impossible to tip or be with any confidence, especially when the horse that has faced he starter previously, was soundly beaten at double figure odds in an easier race than this. Look for any money for MICROPHONE (6), BLAZING ENGINE (3), AUXIN (1) and PLATINI (8).

Race 2: 3YO Fillies BM70 Handicap 1200m

SWEET JAZZ (6) has only been to the races once previously for a crushing victory in a Stony Creek maiden. She had no luck when the runs were coming, held-up approaching the turn before getting a split and charging through the line. This is obviously harder but she looks to be well above average.

Dangers:

VIVI VALENINA (7) gets the blinker on again, she got her maiden win out of the way when fresh this campaign and has been consistent since. She will roll forward and be up on the speed for a long way. BONITO (5) was all over the place at the Valley last start in her first go out of maiden grade, the addition of the winkers looked a must. BOLD ARIAL (4) is a last start winner in 58-grade, she was off the track throughout and won with authority. She may just need some early cover up the straight.

Race 3: Handicap 1600m

SILENTZ (5) comes through a decent form race on Boxing Day at Caulfield where he was quite dominant in victory, he is likely to get back but should get a very economical run and the gaps usually appear up the long straight here.

Dangers:

GUIZOT (6) won the feature race at the Bool on New Years Eve, he may have been suited by the way the race was run but he did plenty wrong and was still dominant. TORGERSEN (4) and SO SI BON (3) ran one-two at Caulfield on Boxing Day at Listed level, the former gets the blinkers on again and a little concerning that the latter has been to the track 13 times without victory.

Race 4: 3YO BM70 Handicap 1400m

BLINDER (1) is lining up for start number five, all in this first prep, he draws unfavourably out wide form the tough 1400m start. The one thing to offset that is that he will get back anyway, he comes through a hot form race two starts back that has produced 4 other subsequent winners, franked that form with a dominant run-on win at Caulfield last time. Look for him late.

Dangers:

O’TAUTO (2) was a little green when resuming up the straight last time, he looks to have a stack of ability and is also likely to be in the second half early. The small field and the extra furlong look to suit. KAPLUMPICH (4) has been up for a long time but is racing consistently, he battled up the straight last time but looks better suited around the bend up in trip. SYMPHONETTE (5) will also get back, she won two on the trot to start this campaign and has ran on well at two starts since. A little concerning that all the chances look to be run-on types so tactics will be important.

Race 5: Handicap 2000m

BEAUTY WAY (2) and MASCULINO (3) come through the same race at the Valley where they both weren’t beaten far. They both look better suited back on the big track as they don’t have a lot of tactical speed but will keep coming in the straight. It looks the right form-line for this type of race, hard to split them on what we saw last time.

Dangers:

AGE OF FIRE (1) drops back from Listed level where he settled a lot closer and was brave in defeat. He has only been to the track once before when well down the track at Group Three level, gets the addition of the blinkers again today. SECOND BULLET (7) is a veteran that has been good in the Kilmore and Werribee Cups leading into this, off a 4-week freshen-up he should be running on hard.

Race 6: Fillies and Mares BM84 Handicap 1400m

OCEAN DEEP (10) is a last start winner in easier grade against the girls, the margin wasn’t huge but it was the way she won that was impressive. She had to work early to get to the spot outside the leader, took over early in the straight and fought them off strong. This is harder but is if she is ridden positively again from the nice gate, she will be hard to run down.

Dangers:

REMEMBER THE NAME (8) was resuming in a similar race at Caulfield last time, she didn’t have much room to gallop in late and probably should have finished closer. She is a winner second-up previously. TWITCHY FRANK (4) steps up in grade after a good win last start, albeit with all the favours. She draws well again, she will be well in the market but happy to risk her if she starts around the $5 or $6. FLYING KRUPT (2) has won three in a row, she has versatility and although up in the weights today, gets the good claim. Decisions will have to be made early from the wide draw.

Race 7: Handicap 1100m

ORDER OF COMMAND (7) loves it up the straight here, he has been back from the paddock for two starts and two dominant wins when sitting off the pace. They will probably be coming down the outer half by this stage of the day, he will need to be well ridden from the inner gate but will be charging late.

Dangers:

PREZADO (8) is an enigma that can produce an amazing run when needed, but unfortunately, they are few and far between. He has run Nature Strip to under a length up the straight, using all his ability he can win this. PRINCETON SPIRIT (5) is resuming and is a winner, he has saluted at 6 of his 9 career starts and wasn’t far away at his only go up the straight. Watch for any money for him resuming here today. INVINCIBLE AL (4) is consistent and races well here up the straight, he is likely to be giving them a start but looks to be drawn in the right part of the track.

Race 8: Chester Manifold Stakes 1400m

The feature of the day and it looks a very tough race on paper. CABEZA DE VACA (4) is resuming, he usually does his best racing early in his preps and has trialed well enough north of the border. He draws to get a soft run and gets the blinkers back on, expect that he will go forward and be hard to run down.

Dangers:

Most of them! MR MONEY BAGS (13) is a three-time winner her at the track but is drawn out and will either have to work early to get up on the speed or ease early and ride for luck. MANOLO BLAHNIQ (12) should be fully fit here third-up but has not placed at four previous runs at the track and is drawn poorly. Both of those two look a great risk if at the top of the betting. HOLBEIN (10) was good here through the line last time and looks suited stepping up in trip.

Race 9: BM70 Handicap 1100m

I AM SOMEONE (5) looks the best of the day, his win at Bendigo was breathtaking and gets in well here with the claim. AS long as the inside is not a no-go zone, he should be up on the speed and pouncing at the clocktower. He has come back so well this campaign.

Dangers:

WIND FORCE (3) is drawn out and that may be favourable come this time of the day, he is consistent enough and has placed up the straight previously. He stuck on well last start at Mornington in a race that has had a subsequent come from it. VAINSTREAM (8) was only fair in a harder race here just before Xmas, he is drawn the carpark which may be advantageous, he just needs to settle better. If TBILISI (17) gets a start he comes right into calculations, he was an eye-catcher late at the Valley running on hard from last.
