Bendigo Racing Tips

Track: Good 4. Rail: True

Best Bet: Race 2 – 1 GENERALMAINTENANCE

=====

Race 1: 3YO Maiden Plate 1600m

DUNMAN (2) was very costly for punters last time at Stawell where he was beaten as a long odds-on favourite. He seemed to hit a flat spot that day but is clearly better than that, go on his nice effort when running on hard at Ballarat to miss previously. He will appreciate getting back to the big track.

Dangers:

SUBURBIA (3) looks the obvious threat, he has been to the races twice and is screaming out for the mile after running on well last time over the 7 furlongs. He looks suited by the small field. FIFTYONESTATES (6) showed improvement at career start three working home nicely and ZESTO (4) has shown some proisse over the longer trips, he has had a couple of months off and may need further.

Race 2: Super Vobis Maiden Plate 2400m

GENERALMAINTENANCE (1) has placed at his last couple, they had notified of his intention to race closer to the speed last start but after being caught wide they went back. He ran on well, expect that off the inside if he begins better, he will settle much closer.

Dangers:

COSTALOT (7) has had enough chances, she will be facing the starter for the 11th time today. She had no luck when heavily backed as favourite at Geelong last start, she looks suited getting out to this trip. MISHMASH (2) is a little inconsistent but was good last time when backed at big odds. He will certainly run the trip. SOUTHERN TOFF (3) was poor on debut and very one paced, knowing this yard he will run the trip no problem and will be better for that debut run over the shorter distance.

Race 3: 3YO Fillies Maiden Plate 1300m

GOSSIP (5) is one of two Weir runners, with the in-form John Allen taking the ride. She placed at two of her first three then was a little one-paced last time. She gets the blinkers on here which should sharpen her up and the engagement of Allen gives us a lead.

Dangers:

The stablemate may be the main danger, FRENCH FIZZ (4). She was runner-up on debut but she did appear to have every chance. She is likely to be spotting the stablemate a start but if she gets the right cart into it, the extra 100m should suit and she will be running on. WINGED KEEL (11) is the interesting runner on debut for the Mick Price yard. She hasn’t been seen at the official trials, the weight of money (or lack thereof) will tell the story with her. BIRDWING (1) ran on ok on debut but looked to still have a lot to learn, she may need further.

Race 4: Maiden Plate 1000m

SOUTHERN MISSILE (4) is an interesting debutant for the Tony McEvoy yard. His two trials have been similar where when asked he picked up nicely before cruising through the line. Watch the betting and respect any smart late money for him.

Dangers:

THUNDERBOLT TWO (6) is very speedy and will lead for a long way, he is third-up today and was only run down late last time and the 1000m will see him out. THE RUNNING MAN (5) was well beaten last time here when at the top of the market, he featured in the steward’s report that day with mucus found post-race and is worth another chance. RIVER HOUSE (2) was ok on debut, then was sent to the paddock after a poor effort at start two. He returns today after 22 weeks with an ok trial under his belt.

Race 5: BM64 Handicap 1100m

STARVIRGO (5) is racing well this time in and hasn’t finished further back than 2nd, he will go forward and be on the speed for a long way. He was first-up after a six-week break last time and drops back in trip which may suit.

Dangers:

CREDIBLE WITNESS (3) had excuses last time when he was well in the market, he chased good enough when clear and was ok through the line. He maps better here. GOT THE MOVES (2) gets the bar plates removed which is always a positive, he was resuming after a year off the scene last time and will have taken a lot from that run. If he can regain the form of last prep, he is right in this. ZELAMORE (1) has been up for a long time but is well in this grade with 3kg claim.

Race 6: Class 1 Handicap 1400m

KING TYCOON (2) is resuming, he got right out to the 2000m at his first prep but he did win on debut at this trip. He looks to have some class, he will be giving them a start but the track usually plays fair to all. Look for him late and there could be bigger things on the horizon for him.

Dangers:

WRITE YOUR NAME (4) has been good at both career runs, a winner on debut when beautifully ridden, he was running on late last time before getting squeezed up late. He should have almost won and stayed undefeated. MR GENOA (6) has the in-form Weir/Allen combination, a winner on debut in WA before coming to the Weir stable last time. He had every chance but no doubt with that one run under the belt, the master will have improved him. FRIEDENSBURG (1) was beaten as a short-priced fave resuming, he did a few things wrong and looks an improver.

Race 7: Fillies and Mares BM64 Handicap 1600m

This almost looks a field job for Quaddie players, I wouldn’t be surprised to see any number in the frame barring the four. SUPRE (2) was very narrowly beaten as favourite last time, she had every chance and ran on well with the winner but just found him a bit too good on the day. She looks suited back against the girls today.

Dangers:

CAMELLE (5) was a winner on debut last start, she stormed home to win over 1300m and looks suited getting out to the mile. This is obviously harder and she did SP $10 that day which is a little worrying, but she clearly has the ability! FERN (8) has placed at both runs this time in, she has had her chances at both of them but does map well again. She has to be thrown in everything. LIMESHOW (9) was heavily backed to win her maiden last time, that was on the soft track so any rain around wouldn’t hurt her chances stepping up to this grade.

Race 8: BM70 Handicap 1300m

It doesn’t get any easier to finish the Quaddie. DATA POINT (3) is consistent, THINK BABE (5) has the formidable Weir/Allen combo and ran on well last start. WASSERGEIST (7) had the race run to suit but didn’t really run out the 7 furlongs last time and looks suited coming back in trip. SAM SLICK (8) won an easier race last time, but he did it with authority after finding trouble, he really flew the last furlong when clear. Play very wide, look how the track has been playing early in the day if you don’t have to commit too early.
