Bulldogs to get something started?
The Bulldogs broke a two-game losing streak last week with a win over North Melbourne, however, they were lucky to get it as the Roos threatened to come back and ultimately only fell short by a single point. It was the third time this year the Dogs have won a game by less than a goal and truth be told they haven’t really played confident footy at any time this year. They’re a long way off being the side that won it all in September last year and at the moment they find themselves in ninth.
West Coast have played some great football over the course of the year but they too haven’t been able to reliably play their best. They have been good since the bye though – they got a win over Geelong two weeks ago, and arguably should’ve had one against Melbourne last week. They beat the Demons through the middle of the ground but didn’t capitalise on it enough and a last-minute miracle from Melbourne snatched the win from them. They, like the Bulldogs, are on a 7-6 record at the moment, but their better percentage has them sitting in seventh.
The Dogs have made only a single change for this match – Bob Murphy is back from injury, but Tom Liberatore is out with a cork.
West Coast have lost all of Matt Priddis, Shannon Hurn, Josh Hill and Will Schofield (to a hip injury, ironic given he escaped a ban at the AFL tribunal). Sharrod Wellingham, Chris Masten, Jack Redden and Sam Butler are the inclusions.
While West Coast’s troubles away are well known, and their outs are problematic, $3.55 to win seems pretty generous and $4.20 by 1-39 points looks like top value.
