Western Bulldogs vs North Melbourne

The Western Bulldogs will look to get their season back on track against a North Melbourne side that will give them at least some of a test on Saturday night.

The Dogs have faced more than a few accusations about having the classic premiership hangover over the past few days after a disappointing effort against Melbourne last week. They were, in short, completely uncompetitive, and ended up losing to a fellow mid-table team by a margin of 57 points. What makes it really worrying is that the Dogs have now won only two of their last seven games and have now slipped out of the top eight entirely. Panic stations.

North Melbourne, to be fair, haven’t been much better. After 12 rounds they have a 4-8 record, and any chance of making finals is purely theoretical. They had a so-so 17 point loss to St Kilda last Friday night where they didn’t look very good, but neither did the Saints. All things considered they’re not doing too badly given they started the season with an 0-5 record, but aren’t going great either.

The Bulldogs have won three of the last four between these two, including a three-point thriller earlier this year. Luke Beveridge has ended his run of making big changes to the Bulldogs’ side this week, ultimately only making two swaps and both of them forced. Lin Jong and Tom Boyd will both miss this one due to injury, Tom Campbell and Jack Redpath have been brought in as replacements.

North have swung the axe a little more, with Lachlan Hansen and Jed Anderson dropped, while Kayne Turner misses through injury. Andrew Swallow, Jamie Macmillan and Majak Daw are the three inclusions for North.

Given the Dogs’ poor form of late, $3 for the Roos by 1-39 points looks excellent value.
