Richmond vs GWS

The Richmond Tigers will hope to push their case for a top four spot when they host the GWS Giants at the MCG on Sunday of Round 18.

In some ways Richmond have had a pretty consistent season at time this year, but like every team they have had a few lapses.

One of their worst came just two weeks ago when they were absolutely thumped by St Kilda – but that was one of only two losses they’ve had by sizeable margins.

They have all up won three of their last four matches, including a 31-point win over the Brisbane Lions last week.

All up it has them with a 10-6 record, certainly solid, the same number of wins as their opponents but the Giants have also recorded two draws.

The Giants have had a good enough season to find themselves third on the ladder after 17 rounds, but in a strange season they haven’t necessarily been super impressive.

They have just one win in their last five matches, though in all fairness they’ve had two draws in that time as well.

If they don’t get back among the winners’ circle soon, there’s a risk they won’t finish in the top four.

To put it short, they really need a win.

No change for Richmond this week, but GWS have brought in Will Setterfield to debut for the club with Matt de Boer dropped.

Stephen Coniglio and Brett Deledio, some much needed reinforcements, are returning via the NEAFL this week – they’ll be handy to have back, but not this week.

The Giants have won two in a row against the Tigers after losing their first five against the club, but their match earlier in the year was a last-minute thriller that could’ve gone either way.

Richmond at home feel like a pretty good chance here, so $2.70 for them to win by 1-39 points is good value.
