The Power have enjoyed a strong season so far, showing an excellent ability to smash the middling and lesser teams of the year.
Port are doing well in some surprising stats – they’ve got the least points against in the league, the third-most points for, and the second-best percentage. There was some questions marks however over their ability to compete with the better sides in the league. Those have been cleared up a bit by a win over West Coast last week, though they’re still yet to beat a team higher than eighth.
As for North Melbourne, they’re sitting in 17th on the ladder, but arguably having played better footy than most 17th-ranked teams. Although they’ve gone 4-11, five of their losses have been by less than a goal. They’ve scored the seventh most points for and have a better percentage than six other teams. However even if they should arguably be a bit higher up on the ladder, they’re certainly only a mid-table team at best. Aside from a groundbreaking win over Adelaide earlier in the year, and a victory over Melbourne, they’ve had little to hang their hat on. As it is, they’re coming into this one on the back of a five-game losing streak, after yet another close heartbreaker against Fremantle last week.
Port Power have made only one change – they’ve dropped Jack Hombsch and brought in Logan Austin.
It’s the same for North Melbourne. They’ve dropped Trent Dumont and will debut rookie Cameron Zurhaar.
Port Adelaide have won the last two between these two sides. Can’t see the result being any different this time, the only question is what kind of margin – $1.83 for Port by 40+ for us.
