The North Melbourne Kangaroos and the GWS Giants will meet at Blundstone Arena in Hobart for the second time on Saturday afternoon.
Last time these two sides played at this ground it was a very different scenario, with a finals-bound North Melbourne thrashing the young Giants by 129 points.
The Giants were playing just their second ever AFL game at that point in time – but in five years that have passed, they’ve grown to a stature more befitting their moniker.
North Melbourne come into this match having lost their first two games of the season, though not without showing some effort.
They were in their Round 1 match with West Coast up until halftime before being blown away in the second half and allowing the Eagles to win by a handy margin.
They then fought incredibly hard with Geelong last week and led comfortably at the final change, but were run down in fourth quarter and beaten by a single point.
How they pull up from that game will be key here – will they put in another strong effort, or will the disappointment leave them a bit flat?
The Giants on the other hand had a surprise loss to the Adelaide Crows in Round 1, which shocked them into action last week.
They responded by walloping the Gold Coast Suns by more than 100 points, achieving their largest winning margin in club history.
Scott Thompson will miss this match for the Roos making their defence look even more vulnerable than it already did, and they’ve given up 100+ points two weeks in a row.
Even if North can put in a spirited effort, this looks like a comfortable win for the Giants. $1.92 for them to beat the -30.5 line, or $2.25 to win by 40 points or more, seem to be strong possibilities.
