The Gold Coast Suns face a massive challenge to keep their winning streak alive when they host the Adelaide Crows at Metricon Stadium on Saturday.
The Suns didn’t start the year in great form – they dropped a match they were expected to win against the Brisbane Lions, then got slammed by GWS to the tune of 100+ points.
However they’ve since bounced back in a really admirable way, destroying Hawthorn at home and then winning on the road against Carlton.
That has pushed back some of the conversation from doubters around the struggles of the club and Rodney Eade’s future, but it’ll be a surprise if their winning ways continue this weekend.
This time they’re up against the Adelaide Crows, arguably the best team going around at the moment, undefeated and in excellent form.
The Crows dismantled premiership favourites GWS in Round 1 and since then haven’t really been too strongly challenged.
They come into this match having absolutely blitzed Essendon at home last week – the Suns should be very wary.
All things considered, despite the good form of the Suns, this looks like it will be a comfortable win to the Crows – they have their opponents beat all over the ground.
Adelaide are at $1.25 to win which is pretty good value really considering how good their form is, and $2.50 for them to win by 40+ looks to be a good offering.
Alternatively you could look at Adelaide at $1.92 to beat a -27.5 points line – even on the road, that seems very likely.
With Josh Jenkins and Mitch McGovern out, Taylor Walker really stepped up last week and kicked five goals for the Crows.
Given the Suns are missing both Rory Thompson and Steven May, you’d have to think he’ll have another big day – $2.10 for Tex to kick four goals looks good.
