Fremantle vs Hawthorn

The finals race is pretty much over for both Fremantle and Hawthorn at this stage, but the opportunity is still there to finish the season on a high note.

The Dockers have had an odd season really and what has helped immensely is winning four games by less than a goal. They have seven wins in total for the year and if they had lost those four would only have three victories to speak of in 2017. They have the second-worst percentage in the league, so all things considered, that’s probably the best reflection of where they are really at. Still, they have played good footy on occasion this year. Don’t discount them playing some more here.

Hawthorn have had a patchy year as well, but their recent form suggests they’ve found at least some of the mojo that made them a great team in the past. They’ve won two of their last four, over Adelaide and Collingwood, with their other results in that time being a draw with GWS (third on the ladder) and a three-point loss to Geelong (second on the ladder) last week. With only six wins for the year it is officially too late to make a charge for finals, but that doesn’t mean they can’t finish in good form regardless. Given that their first and second round picks this year already belong to other clubs, they’ve got no reason not to.

The Dockers have dropped Luke Ryan and Brennan Cox for breaking club rules this week, and are bringing in Cam McCarthy and Josh Deluca.

Hawthorn have dropped Kurt Heatherley and Kade Stewart. They’ve recalled Brendan Whitecross and will debut Irishman Conor Glass.

$1.73 for Hawthorn to win is an OK price even if it is in Perth but $5.50 is excellent value for a big Hawthorn win by 40+ points.
