Carlton aren’t nearly as talented as Adelaide are, and yet their tenacity and reliability is arguably the best you’ll find in the league.
The Blues have had maybe only one or two un-competitive performances this year, and have caught out better sides on several occasions. As a result they find themselves with five wins on the board and while they’re not going to push for finals this year, they can have a bit of pride. Their most recent outcome was a 26-point loss to Richmond last Sunday at the MCG.
Adelaide on the other hand have probably played better football than any other team this year but have had a few matches where they are worryingly poor. One of those came just last week when they were defeated by 16th-placed Hawthorn on Thursday night. After racing out to 6-0 in a canter this year, they’ve stumbled a bit since and have in fact only won three of their past seven. That’s good enough for second spot on the ladder at the moment but they’ll want to get back into the habit of winning, and soon.
The Crows have made a few changes though they’re mostly forced. Charlie Cameron and Tom Lynch will miss through injury, while Andy Otten has been dropped. Mitch McGovern, Riley Knight and David Mackay are their three ins.
Carlton have made big changes. Blaine Boekhorst, Jarrod Pickett and Billie Smedts have all been dropped, and Sam Petrevski-Seton managed. Ed Curnow and Jed Lamb are both injured. Simon White, David Cunningham, Zac Fisher, Sam Kerridge, Ciaran Sheehan and Liam Sumner are their inclusions.
The Crows have won their last two row over the Blues and seem unlikely to lose back to back games, but don’t be surprised if the Blues keep it close. $2.10 for an Adelaide win by 1-39 for us.
