Brisbane vs Fremantle

Fremantle will look to arrest a run of recent losses when they travel to face a struggling Brisbane side at the Gabba.

The Dockers have been a confusing team to follow at times this year. They started the season with two poor losses, and in the past fortnight have had two poor losses. In between that time, they won six of seven matches.

Three of their wins came by margins of less than a goal though and their percentage is among the worst in the league, which is probably more reflective of where they’re at.

Having Aaron Sandilands out lately has not helped them at all – he has been a late withdrawal in their last two matches, and they have lost both.

There are also questions being asked about the form of Nat Fyfe, who is playing solid, even star level football, but not the truly Herculean efforts we’ve seen him put forward in the past.

Brisbane on the other hand are a 1-9 side, having won their first game of the year but a slender margin and then lost repeatedly ever since.

They are the clean frontrunners to win the wooden spoon this year, and it’s really rather difficult to guess where their next win could come from.

They did get a boost during the week with news that Josh Schache will stay at the club, and that could be the star of better days at Brisbane.

However, those days are still some ways from arriving.

This week the Lions do have Tom Rockliff returning and also Ryan Harwood in, with Matthew Hammelmann and Ben Keays dropped.

Fremantle have brought in Tommy Sheridan and Sam Collins and will debut Brennan Cox, with Matt Taberner and Ethan Hughes dropped, and Ed Langdon injured.

Although the Dockers look vulnerable, even an average side should have no troubles dispatching of lacklustre Brisbane.

The Dockers have won the last nine matches between these two sides, and three of the last four have been by margins of 40+.

$4.50 for a 40+ Fremantle win today looks like good value.
