Adelaide vs Essendon

The Adelaide Crows will look to maintain their undefeated start to the season when they host the Essendon Bombers at Adelaide Oval in Round 4 of the 2017 AFL Season.

The Bombers are a tricky team to read at the moment and it is hard to know what to expect from them.

They started the season strongly, with an upset win over the Hawthorn Hawks in Round 1 and then a solid victory on the road against Brisbane in Round 2.

However, any good praise those wins bought them from opposition fans was wiped out last week when they got knocked off by the battling Carlton Blues.

Adelaide on the other hand are a team that are very easy to read at the moment – they’re good, damn good, and the most impressive side in the league.

They announced themselves by absolutely smashing the pre-season premiership favourites GWS in Round 1, and then have taken wins over Hawthorn and Port Adelaide in the weeks since.

They haven’t put a foot wrong so far this year and no one has been as impressive as them. It’s not surprising that they are the very comfortable favourites in this match.

They’ve made only one change this week with Troy Menzel in to replace Mitch McGovern, which does make their forward line a little shorter than usual.

Essendon have dropped Heath Hocking and Martin Gleeson to bring in Josh Green and Conor McKenna.

If this match were in Melbourne there’d be a hint of upset potential for the Bombers to fire after a disappointing week, but home ground advantage probably makes it too hard for them to win this one.

$2.40 for Adelaide to win by 1-39 points for us.
